Around the World

13th July 2020 By matthewprince

Globe Earth Clipart Black And White Free Clipart Images - Globe ...

Good morning Year Three,

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend. The weather forecast for this week looks good so hopefully you will all be able to get some fresh air and play outside in the sunshine.

This is the final week of term, it should have been a week where we were all together in school, enjoying our last few days together in Year Three, so I am feeling quite sad that we are not able to do that. However, I am looking forward to seeing you all on our final ‘Show and Tell’ Teams meeting tomorrow.

This week’s Learning Project theme is ‘Around the World’ and it is a wonderful topic! Please use this week to research somewhere in a different part of the world, you could find out what the climate is like, which animals live there or if there are any interesting festival or events that take place there. I would love to hear about anything you have learned so if you could email me with some facts or a picture of any work you complete it would make my day!

As always, please continue to look after each other and stay safe.

Best wishes,

Mr Prince

Famous and Significant People

6th July 2020 By matthewprince

Good afternoon Year Three,

Once again, I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. My Auntie and Uncle got a new puppy at the weekend so I was able to play with her which was very exciting! Her name is Lilly and she is a black Labrador.

I know you have all been busy learning about a range of topics, I have enjoyed seeing some examples of work on Twitter and have received some wonderful emails so thank you for that. I also had an excellent time last week seeing most of you during our ‘Show and Tell’ Teams meeting; I look forward to seeing you all again soon.

This week’s learning project is all about famous and significant people. I think this is a brilliant theme because there are so many important people who have made a significant impact on the world; use this week to find out more about areas you are interested in and key figures that may have affected that area. I love playing sport and one of my favourite sports is football so I would probably research the history of football, how it started and when different leagues were set up. I would want to find out if there were any people that played key roles in creating the leagues we known and love today.

The Rainforest

29th June 2020 By matthewprince

Good morning Year Three,

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and are keeping safe and well.

This week’s learning project is titled ‘The Rainforest’ and it offers you the chance to learn about a different environment and the animals that live there. I am feeling quite sad as I was meant to visit The Amazon Rainforest in August as part of a trip that was due to begin in Lima, Peru but unfortunately I am not able to travel there now. As part of my trip I was planning to hike up Machu Picchu and visit the Rainbow Mountain so perhaps you could research these places too.

If you find out anything that interests you or complete any work that you are proud of and would like to share with me, please email it to school; I would love to see what you are all doing.

I look forward to seeing you on Teams tomorrow.

Take care,

Mr Prince

Sport!

22nd June 2020 By matthewprince

Good morning Year Three,

What a lovely, sunny day it is today, it always makes me feel energetic when the sun is shining! This week’s learning project is based around sport, there are some wonderful activities to try and amazing videos and websites to see too.

A few activities stood out for me, one of the activities asks you to research a sportsperson that you admire. If I was doing this activity I would write about the Portuguese footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo. He grew up in a poor neighbourhood but had a passion for football and although some people doubted him, he always had faith that he would become one of the best footballers in the world. He has now achieved this dream by being focused and working incredibly hard, an excellent attitude to adopt.

Another activity that stood out is one where you are asked to research the Olympic Games. You will be able to find out where previous games have been held, which events are involved and learn about some famous athletes from the past and present, it may inspire you to try some new sports for yourself – and what a perfect week to get outside and play some sport!

I hope you are all continuing to stay safe and look after one another.

Under the Sea!

15th June 2020 By matthewprince

Good morning Year Three,

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend and had the chance to enjoy some of the sunshine.

This week is the beginning of our new Learning Project topic, Under the Sea! It is a fascinating topic where you will learn about marine environments and possibly find out about animals that you have never even heard of. I love the sea, it amazes me when I think about how large and deep the ocean actually is. Some of my favorite animals are sea creatures, I think my favorite would have to be a seahorse.

I hope you enjoy learning about life under the sea, if you are proud of anything you create, please either post it on Twitter or email it to school so I can see it. I have had some lovely emails from some of you over the last couple of weeks, it has kept my spirits high and always put a smile on my face so thank you.

Please continue to stay safe and take care of each other,

Mr Prince

National Loving Day

12th June 2020 By matthewprince

Good morning Year Three,

Today is National Loving Day and what perfect time for it as the whole world is in need of some love right now. It can be easy to let ourselves get upset when things are difficult, I am finding it hard not being able to see and hug family members that I miss so much and I’m sure you are too.

However, we can’t allow ourselves to be upset for too long, we must strive to remember the positives in our lives. Something I like to do if I am ever feeling sad is write down ten things that I love about my life. I like to use a sheet of A4 paper, write the title ‘Ten Things I Love About My Life’ in the centre then, using LOADS of coloured pens, I write about and draw pictures of the ten things I have chosen.

Why not give it a go today, I am sure it will put a smile on your face.

As always, I would love to see what you have produced so if you could post it on Twitter or send it to school via email it would make me very happy.

Take care and stay safe,

Mr Prince

Treasure Hunt!

10th June 2020 By matthewprince

Good morning Year Three,

I have been thinking of something you could do today that will get you moving, thinking and smiling. It is sometimes hard for me to think like a seven or eight year old so I enlisted the help of my younger cousins.

Earlier last week they both took five sweets from their sweetie jar and hid them around the house. They then wrote some clues explaining where they had hidden their sweets but the clues weren’t obvious. The challenge was this; their parents had thirty minutes to read the clues and find all of the sweets, if they found them, they could eat them. However, if they couldn’t find them, it meant that my cousins were allowed to eat the sweets!

They had great fun playing this game, they said it was such a laugh. I hope you have fun if you decide to play too!

As always, please continue to stay safe and take care,

Mr Prince

Celebrations!

8th June 2020 By matthewprince

Good morning Year Three,

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and are keeping safe and well.

This week’s learning project is all about celebrations, there are some excellent activities to complete but remember you can change the activities or come up with some of your own ideas based on the theme.

There are some wonderful celebrations that take place all over the world, there are also some excellent festivals too. Some of you may remember reading a guided reading book this year all about festivals around the world, one of my personal favourites was the Cheese Rolling Festival which takes place in Gloucester, England.

Perhaps you could research a celebration or interesting festival and write about it, create a PowerPoint, a leaflet or a poster. I would love to see and read anything you produce so feel free to email it to school or post it on Twitter.

Stay safe and take care,

Mr Prince

Estimation Friday!

5th June 2020 By matthewprince

Good morning Year Three,

I would like you to spend today working on your estimation skills, this means thinking about what you think an answer will be before working it out.

You can estimate almost anything, here is a grid you can use to record your work, you can use my examples or think of your own.

The picture is slightly blurry so if you can’t read it clearly I have suggested that you could estimate:

  • How many steps is it from the settee to the cooker?
  • How many stairs are there in my house? (You will use your house).
  • How many Smarties are in one tube?
  • How many beans are in one tin?

I hope you have fun with this challenge, I would love to see and hear about some of the things you estimate! The stranger the better!

Have fun!

Spread the love!

3rd June 2020 By matthewprince

Good morning Year Three,

We have been in lockdown for over 10 weeks now and this has not been easy. We have all had to make sacrifices such as not seeing friends or being able to hug family members.

This has been hard for everyone and at times has made me feel quite upset which is why I want to use today’s blog to attempt to raise morale and lift spirits. Everyone has the opportunity to make at least one person happy, sometimes the smallest little gestures can brighten up a person’s whole week.

My challenge to you is to pick one person (you can choose more if you would like to) and do something to make sure they feel happier. You could draw them a lovely picture, write them a letter, sing them a song or even just call them and have a chat. You would be amazed at the impact you can have!

I hope everyone is still safe and well, I hope to see you all again soon.

Take care,

Mr Prince
