We all enjoyed our long weekend but we have still managed to pack in lots of learning too!
Last Monday, we were visited by Mrs Conlin’s son Michael, from Durham University’s Learning team. We spent the day learning all about the Anglo – Saxons. Michael brought some great artefacts in to school for us to investigate. The weapons were definitely the favourites of everyone.
We also looked at a copy of the Lindisfarne Gospels. We learnt how the monks used quill pens to copy out the Gospels and to decorate the pages. It was very tricky!
Thank you, Michael, for a fantastic day.
The very next day we travelled to Newcastle to complete a Science workshop at the Life Centre and then spent the afternoon walking around Newcastle learning about the Geographical features of a city. We were tired out by the end of the day!
Mrs Baum had to pretend to be a policeman checking the circuits we made!
Our filedwork was fantastic too.
We have used our fieldwork results to draw graphs to compare traffic numbers in Newcastle to Lanchester. Newcastle was so busy – we could hardly keep up with the number of cars that passed us!
This week in R.E. we have learnt about the life and work of Saint Oscar Romero. Did you know that our Mission Statement is a quote from the great Man? Look at these wonderful biographies written by Jacob and Alfie. Well done boys!
What a busy 2 weeks! We can’t wait for Health Week next week too.
Have a restful weekend Class 4, from Mrs Conlin and Miss Baum x
