Summer Week 5

In R.E. this week we have studied the journeys made by St. Paul and discussed how he was helped by the Holy Spirit.

In English we finished reading The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. We have all written reviews to express our opinions about the novel.

In Maths lessons this week we have been looking at fraction and decimal equivalents. We have applied this knowledge to solving problems involving converting.

In Art we have been creating mosaic pictures to help us understand how complicated it was for the Romans to make the enormous wall and floor mosaics they used to decorate their buildings.

Summer Week 4

In R.E. We have created art work to display in church ready for the First Holy Communions on Saturday.

In English, we have continued reading the Iron Man and will write a newspaper report about the story on Friday.

In Maths we have been looking at the properties of 2D shapes and calculating perimeter and area.

Summer Week 3

In R.E. this week we created a display for Pentecost and learnt how St. Paul was changed from Saul to Paul on the road to Damascus.

In English we have been developing our skills to write complex sentences with subordinating conjunctions.

In Maths we have been using standard written methods to multiply and divide. We have applied these skills to problem solving.

Summer Week 2

In R.E. this week we have listened to and retold the story of Pentecost.

In English we have continued reading “The Iron Man” by Ted Hughes. We have written a description of the giant.

In Maths we have been studying decimal numbers. We have learnt how to round decimal numbers to the nearest whole number.

In History we have learnt why, how and where the Romans built roads in Britain.

Summer Week 1

We began a new topic this week about serving . We have thought about times we have received good news and how that makes us feel.

In English we have begun reading “The Iron Man”. We are thinking of adjectives, similes and metaphors to describe the main character.

In Maths we have been using a number line to add repeated amounts of the same number.

In History we have begun a new topic about The Romans. We have learnt how the Roman Empire grew over centuries.

Spring week 12

We have had a busy week looking at the many elements of the Easter Story from Palm Sunday to Easter Day.

In Maths we have been interpreting and displaying data in graphs.

We thoroughly enjoyed decorating eggs on Thursday afternoon. Well done to Kara, Joe and Aleksander for their winning entries.

Spring Week 11

R.E.

We have been learning how Jesus taught his disciples to pray by giving them the “Our Father”. We have also practised the responses given at communion ready for our First Communion day.

In Maths this week we have been multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100.

In English we have been looking at rap style poems. We enjoyed working in groups to prepare a performance for the class.

We have been busy making cards for our mums ready for Sunday!

Spring Week 10

We’ve had a busy week doing tests in Maths and English. Well done for trying so hard everyone!

In R.E. this week we studied the scripture story of the Road to Emmaus. We made links between this story and The Mass.

We continued looking at Italy in our Geography topic. We used atlases to locate some major cities and then made posters to encourage tourists to visit Rome and Venice.

Spring Week 9

In R.E. this week we have been learning about the Eucharistic Prayer and how it links to the Last Supper.

In English we have been reading an eBook about unusual sports. This inspired us to invent a new game based on golf. We are now writing a newspaper report about our new sport.

We have had a busy week in Maths! We have been looking at both time and perimeter.

As part of Science week, we visited St. Bede’s to carry out some experiments involving electricity.

Spring Week 8

We have learnt about Ash Wednesday and Lent this week. We are all trying to say more prayers, give something up and help others through alms giving.

English

We have had a wonderful World Book Day. We all enjoyed getting dressed up and meeting the author, Neil Sullivan.

Maths

We have been adding and subtracting money amounts with two decimal places this week. We have applied this knowledge to real life problems.
