Our Last Blog

13th July 2020 By catrionapowell

Good morning boys and girls and welcome to our final blog. I can’t believe it’s the last week of school already! It’s been so great getting to know you over the last few weeks. I’m a little sad that we haven’t met in person yet but I’m super excited to see you in September! It’ll be here before we know it.

I hope your summer is full of fun and adventure, I’d love to hear all about it when you join us in Reception Class. We had our first proper adventure in a very long time at the weekend. We went to stay in our Aunt’s house in the Lake District. Eliza climbed her first mountain  (with a little help from her Daddy!)

Bella dog enjoys climbing up high too. She loves scrambling over the rocks and hills. She even found a bench to sit on! Doesn’t she look pleased with herself?

We spotted a really big bird when we were out walking, it was called a buzzard. Can you see it in the photo below? Eliza managed to get a good look at it through her little binoculars. We have some binoculars in our classroom, I wonder what you might be able to see through them!

I wonder what your favourite adventure has been. Have you ever climbed a big hill? Or maybe even climbed a tree. Have you seen any exciting animals when you have been out and about? I’d love to hear from you!

I can’t wait to see you all soon.

Lots of love

6th July 2020 By catrionapowell

Good morning boys and girls! I can’t believe it’s been a whole week since I spoke to you last! I wonder what you’ve all been up to. It was great to see Luke splashing in the sea on Twitter, I also received a lovely email from Arlo. I loved looking through your photos Arlo, you looked super speedy whizzing around on your bike!

This week the current Reception Class are doing some work on The Gruffalo. It is one of my favourite stories. Have any of you read this book? I’ve been lucky enough to meet the Gruffalo on a couple of occasions. Have you ever bumped into him? I hope he didn’t give you too much of a fright!

Eliza and I are going to have a go at making a Gruffalo face using paper plates this week. Hopefully it will look like this one.

A couple of weeks ago we read another Julia Donaldson book ‘The Snail and The Whale’. We made some colourful snails using wood and play dough. Do you like them?

I’d love to hear what your favourite books are and if you’ve ever done anything crafty to go with them.

Have a great week everyone!
Lots of love

Barnaby Bear 🐻

29th June 2020 By catrionapowell

Good morning everyone and happy Monday. I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I bet lots of you went puddle jumping!

I thought I’d use today’s blog to introduce a very special little bear. In Reception Class we have a very small, very old little bear called Barnaby. Those of you with big brothers and sisters have probably met Barnaby before.

Barnaby watches what goes on in our classroom all day long then at home time he decides who he would like to go home with. He doesn’t always choose the person who IS the best, but he does often choose the person who has TRIED their best.

Barnaby has been on so many adventures over the years. I have lots and lots of diaries filled right up with wonderful photos and stories of what Barnaby has been up to. I can’t wait for you to add to them!

Here are some photos of Barnaby in school, patiently waiting for you all to arrive.

Do you have a favourite bear? I’d love to hear from you!

Lots of love

Outdoor Adventures 🌲 ☀️ 🌹 🦋

22nd June 2020 By catrionapowell

Good morning everyone and welcome to another new week. I have loved hearing from so many of you this week! It really makes me smile. From what I’ve read in my emails it seems that lots of our new children just love being outside. Well guess what? I do too!

Here are a few pictures of some of my recent adventures. I’d love to hear about your adventures too! Fresh air is so good for us and it always puts me in a good mood. Eliza and Bella love to have a run around in a big open space.

Here is a picture of the poppy field behind our house. It looks so beautiful at the moment. Have you spotted any poppies when you’ve been out and about?

We love going to the beach. We stayed up past our bedtime on Saturday as it was the longest day and we went for a splash in the sea. Bella really loves the beach. I think it’s her favourite place.

The woods are another great place to explore. Our horse Red lives near a really big patch of woodland. We often go in search of the Gruffalo. Have you ever been for a walk in the woods?

I hope you all have a lovely week of adventures, whatever they may be. Please remember that you can send me a message either by email or via the school twitter account. I hope to hear from you soon!

Lots of love

Happy Monday!

15th June 2020 By catrionapowell

Good morning everyone and welcome to another new week! I hope you’ve had a great weekend, whatever you got up to.

Thank you so much to everyone who got in touch with me last week. I absolutely loved seeing your emails and tweets, especially the photos of the pets! They were so cute!

We’re about to begin some ‘Snail and the Whale’ crafts in my house today. This is Reception Class’ book of the week. I love any excuse to get the craft box out, do you? Here are some of the activities Eliza and I have had a go at during lockdown.

I’d love to find out more about what you like to do. What have been some of your favourite activities while you’ve been at home?

Lots of Love

Mrs Bryant xx

Hello again! 👋

7th June 2020 By catrionapowell

Good morning boys and girls and welcome to our second blog! I hope you have had a lovely weekend and managed to make some special memories with your families.

I really enjoyed hearing from some of you this week, it was so exciting! I am pleased you enjoyed receiving your postcards. Eliza enjoyed posting them!

Luke mentioned that he was looking forward to finding out about my pets so I thought I might use this week’s blog to introduce them.

Even if you don’t own your own pet, I’m sure lots of you know a pet. Maybe your grandparents have one, or your neighbour. We have lots of animals living with us, most of them have come from rescue centres where they were looking for a happy new life.

This is Bella. She’s a big, bouncy dog who likes to try and talk like a human. She is always eating something she shouldn’t be, including birthday cakes!

This is Milo, he is as cool as a cucumber. He likes to split his time between our house and the car garage over the road. He knows the men there give him lots of treats and cuddles.

This is Archie. He is the fluffiest cat I’ve ever seen. He’s quite shy but likes to sing very loud songs in the middle of the night.

Big Red is my horse. He is a bit of a giant but he is the sweetest boy you’ll ever meet. He has the loveliest manners and is so gentle with Eliza.

This is little Dolly, the pony that Eliza rides. We’re actually only borrowing her but we love her very much. She thinks she is a lot bigger than she is!

Mrs Days has a little dog called Flori, she is very excitable and loves jumping on the sofa for a cuddle!

I hope you’ve enjoyed finding out about our pets, I would really love to hear about any of the animals you know. Please feel free to send school an email or a tweet, your messages are so special.

Lots of Love

A New Adventure!

1st June 2020 By catrionapowell

Hello boys and girls and welcome to our brand new blog! This is a lovely way for me to keep in contact with you while the world is still a little bit upside down. We’d normally be organising lots of activities to get to know each other but for now I thought I might write to you once a week in our school blog.

So, to begin with, here is a little introduction! I am Mrs Bryant and I am the Reception Class teacher. I live with my husband Eddie, little girl Eliza and all of our pets, we have quite a few! I love animals.

This is Mrs Days and she is our Teaching Assistant. Mrs Days lives with her husband Paul, her two grown up children Millie and Jacob and her dog. She is a brilliant artist, I don’t know how we’d manage without her artistic flair!

We have worked together for a long time and love being a team! We can’t wait to meet all of you guys. I’d love to hear more about you. If you want to contact me you can email school and it will be sent straight to my inbox.

Keep your eyes peeled this week as there might just be a little surprise coming through your postbox.

Until next week, I hope you have a lovely time in all this sunshine.

Lots of Love Mrs Bryant xxxx
