Thursday was World Book Day and in Year Two we had a fabulous day celebrating reading, investing and sharing books and, of course, dressing up as our favourite characters! We all looked fabulous. There were so many wonderful costumes we didn’t all fit into one photograph!
We started the day in the hall looking at everyone else’s costumes and showing them ours. We had a great time parading around the hall 😀
Across the day we were able to listen to different teachers reading some of their favourite stories on Teams. The books we heard are shown on Twitter, so don’t forget to check it out for more information.
Back in class we designed book covers for the characters we had dressed up as, sometimes a real book, sometimes we made up a book we’d like to read. Look at these amazing ideas!
In the afternoon we sorted out all the books in our class reading area. We found out how to identify a book as fiction (a story book) or non-fiction (a fact book). Then we put all the sorted books away carefully and neatly. We know it’s important to care for our lovely books.
We ended our day with a lovely time in the hall with our Year Five friends. We all paired up and read to our partners. Then we did a World Book Day Scavenger Hunt together. We all had a great time finding a witch, an elephant, something we’d like to eat and lots of other things besides.
We love being able to take part in such fun events. We all had a great time and hope you all did too.
